If Music Be The Food of Love… Play On!
A Cappella is a social comedy/dramedy in the vein of Gavin and Stacey/Fat Friends/Last Tango In Halifax, capitalising on the UK’s current desire to be part of a choir or musical group (Rock Choir/Gareth Malone).
A disparate group of people are brought together in a choir, who bid to sing at an event in Venice. Marion gets dumped by Clive, so is facing life as a single person for the first time since she was in her teens. Despite dumping her, Clive expects Marion to continue helping him out – including taking his double bass to rehearsals for him. When the enigmatic Nigel is introduced to the choir by Mary, Marion is quite taken but is soon battling Annabel for his attention.
A Capella is hilarious, disastrous and poignant in different measure.
